The beginning of all itinerary planning is deciding where to go. So is it cheaper to go to Alaska or Hawaii? An obvious question when you are trying to choose your destination! But there is so much more that needs to go into your decision! My Hawaii and Alaska Travel Experiences I always feel like […]
Planning trips and going new places keeps me sane. I don't need to tally up countries as a world traveller. I kinda want to leave some adventures for my kids to discover on their own when they are grown.
However, I'm happy driving an hour away or even 5 hours or 20 hours over multiple weeks! When we hop on a plane it's to places like Yellowstone, Alaska, Europe or across the county.
Don't you think that looking forward to and planning your next adventure -- far or near -- makes your day-to-day more enjoyable? It does for me!
Taking a 5 day long family spring break or long weekend in Tucson, Arizona was just the road trip escape we needed to refresh ourselves for the last school push before summer. Even though it may feel really far away, it’s relatively easy to travel from Southern California to Arizona. In fact, we’ve kind […]
Claremont Village is a sleepy college town pushed up against the foothills below Mt. Baldy. It’s the perfect place for a getaway for moms because everything is walkable and you feel instantly relaxed when you get into town. I brought my friend from Nebraska here so she could get the California small town feel that […]
Biosphere 2 near Tucson in Arizona, operated by the University of Arizona, looks like a spaceship just dropped from the sky. Almost all glass, with green leaves pressing up against every side, it’s an amazing sight. Biosphere 2 is a recreation of our planet, Biosphere 1. So, just like Earth, it has a couple of different ecosystems, […]
We didn’t leave from Seattle when we “popped over” to visit the San Juan Islands. And we weren’t just taking in the needs of our little family of four. No! We drove all the way from Southern California on an epic multi-week camping adventure set to culminate by connecting with Montana friends to see orcas in […]
First of all, if you DO happen to have a 4th grader — you can find out all you need to know about how to get your family into U.S. national parks for free through the Every Kid in a Park program. It’s pretty cool to set a goal to visit as many parks as […]
Thinking of visiting San Diego with kids? It’s one of our favorite destinations! The hardest part is trying to decide what we should do while we’re there. I keep a list of family activities under $100 which I present to the kids when we’re ready to hit the road. I let them choose from a full list of […]
Drive Time: About 1 hour from Irvine Weather: Frosty mornings in the winter, but it can be triple digits during summer. (Recommend this as a winter trip!) Stay: Rancho Bernardo Inn in Rancho Bernardo (Disclosure: Rancho Bernardo Inn graciously extended us a reduced media rate for our one-night stay. All opinions are my own.) Eat: On our first family trip […]
